Just noticed recently that whenever i switch on the kettle the lights 'blink' a little in the kitchen and also when i turn on the electric shower the bathroom lights dim a little. I've never noticed this before, is there something going on here? have i got a potential problem? or is this normal and that its something i've never noticed previously. I have just changed supplier but i can't see where or how that would be of any relevance...

Most likely something on the supply side Gordy. Kettles and showers are quite a high load. More likely to result in a voltage drop. Your supplier may be working on the external supply somewhere, so they might be on reduced capacity. You could ring them to put your mind at rest. Ring your regional supplier, NOT the people who read your meter.
Are you in a rural location?

Thanks for the quick answer, No I'm not in a rural area, a town just outside of Glasgow. I'll start by calling the local network supplier and take it from there....

Gordy.
