ahhh that makes sense then doesn't it! So where will the guards have driven past that is the place on the postcard?

I'm assuming so Dot. Did you have a look at the Pathe News clip. I just think it's brilliant, after all our guessing, that we get a definitive answer. It was very strange to see the Army in a car with an AA badge.
yes i watched that, so the original was the 1909 rally, well done for sticking with it!
Excellent - I agree, well done! It seems to have been something of a dry run for the bus transport used in the early stages of WWI. Lots of towns seem to have recorded some part of the trip.

I'm pretty dertain someone spotted they were from the Guards Dvn the first time around and looking at it again the caps do look the part. My Dad was in the Scots Guards and I know the peak on their caps was almost vertical forcing the men to stand very straight to see forward at all.

Steve, you have to post them first on an image-hosting website such as tinypic - this will provide you with a link URL, which you can then cut and paste.
incidentally, excellent detective work there.

yup, that was the picture.

You don't have to copy over the whole page URL - just the one where they say 'direct link for layouts', like so:
