I am looking into my family history and my ancestor John McIntyre was the Tollbooth keeper at St Magdalenes Tollbooth in Linlithgow, I can only find a reference to a distillery of that name on google. His wife took over as keeper after he died. I wondered if anyone might have or know anything about it?? I understand they used Tollbooths for criminals to stay in or a court to be heard?

Thank you for any help you might be able to give
