can someone explain to me why the bishop of myra (in turkey), aka santa is perceived to live in lapland with a bunch of midgets?

Not just Lapland, but also Iceland, Greenland and several places near the North Pole. I suppose the Turkish weather wouldn't really suit Christmas...
Turkish delight. He is into midgets ( and children) in a big way and unusually interested in climbing, at dead of night, into homes where he is certain to find children abed. He then gives them sweets and toys for "being good" and not telling the truth and grassing on him to other children later, when they themselves came of age and see him for what he is. The wonder is that he hasn't been caught in the act yet. The Scandinavian countries are far more liberal than others; no doubt he feels at home there.
...just blame the yanks, bless 'em... i think it's got something to do with coca-cola.... lol
