I do remember International Stores, but I can't remember the TV commercial you describe.

Do you also remember Home & Colonial Stores?
I remember the store but not the commercial. Do you also remember Fine Fare & Wavy Line?

I've got an old Fine Fare coffee jar full of nails and screws!
I remember going to International in weymouth which then became Key Markets, I believe! I also remember going to a small LIPTONS in the centre of Canterbury to buy my cider every day!!!! (As a student!)
Big Jenny, I remember the Home and Colonial because my little sister called it the Ome-ee-ome-ee-ome-ee-onial and that must be over sixty years ago.
Nice people with nice prices - INTERNATIONAL!

'At INTERNATIONAL we only serve the best'

I remember a Big Store Opening in Gainsborough. It is now a Morrison's I think.
I worked for the International in the early and mid sixties. There was still one remaining counter-service branch in my area at the time. The shops seemed huge at the time, but the sites are now tiny compared with modern shops. While I was working there, our biggest local branch introduced late opening (until 8) on Fridays.
Bit late to reply, but the ad you refer to had the slogan, "At International we only cut the best!" The ads featured several guys in top hat and tails, complete with canes, doing magic, ng and dancing and dated from the late70s. Hope this helps, albeit very late!
