Hi there
I am studying a topic at the moment on how the Catholic Church in Europe between 1945 and 1968 fell. Does anyone think that the failure of the Vatican, mainly the pope to condemn the killing of Jews by Nazis contributed to falling attendance. We're Catholics angry at this silence. Few, of course knew that in 1933 the Pope, before he became pope signed a treaty with Hitler to protect the religious rights of German Catholics in return for the churches non interference in German politics. Of course Hitler did not keep his side of the deal, many priests and bishops were killed and the Vatican stayed silent. Do you think this angered ordinary Catholic members?

How come someone who wasn't the head of the church could sign a treaty with Hitler?
you just say I doan wanna do it. George V made this mistake " ay do not want to sign a treaty with Lenin" and Lloyd George replied - "easily removed your maj - I will"
and George ( and his successors) lost ,nay, gave up the right to sign treaties
But we always really kinds knew dat -didnt we?
