Can anyone point me in the direction of a family tree template for around 7 generations?

You could try downloading the free version of RootsMagic which has some quite good tree functionality - including drawing up trees.

Thank you! I spent a while googling but didnt get much and Excel is only 3 generations

You'd best download a free genealogy programme to keep the typed data in. They will have a tree print out option.
