Surely one doesn't have 4 digits for the year until needed. Unsure what calendar was the first to use modern digits but surely the first palindrom day must be 1/1/1 (there probably being no year (or day for that matter) 0) or maybe 01/1/10 if insisting on a 2 digit day or maybe 01/11/10 if insisting a 2 digit month? Or should we go further back into BC ?

New Year's Day.
Apart from First Footing, not much attributed to the actual day.

That's a palindrome.
Tis, Peter missed the Palindrome Day thread on Saturday.
I think it was the first 8 digit palindromic date.
It was not New Year's Day. Until the 17th century that fell on 25th March.
Anyone who could write wrote on the village bulletin board that it was happy palindrome day, so anyone who could read would spread the joyous news.

Sorry, 10 01 1001 would be the first 8 digit palindromic date and 01 01 1010 the first 8 digit palindromic anniversary (that's bound to have made a big splash on the village bulletin board).
...but it isn't even the first - best forget it!
...unless we stick with binary?
