If you click on your profile there is an option to become user-inactive. Warning, it is irreversible, you cannot become active again by a simple click.

Quietly going user inactive is more dignified than the full on flounce.
I have never understood the point of U/I. All you have to do is stop posting.
'User Inactive' can also be used by the Ed as a means of Banning People but allowing all their postings to remain on site; that otherwise would be removed with a Ban.

I am unable to appreciate anyone pulling the plug on themselves when they can just remain dormant in AB and return if ever they wish, without having to beg the Ed for re-admittance; as I think some members have had to do.

Hans.
I guess when you go UI the temptation is removed to post on a thread ' just this
once '
I think for some it's done in haste, with good reason at the time - better as said to take a break and have a rethink.
Or if you go and regret it you could return as Mamyalynne 2
That's brilliant, jno, hadn't seen that before!

Unless, of course, you go postal, leaving others to regret things unsaid (things that actually needed saying you mentallist).
:-)
I know of a regular poster here who deactivated their account, but the Ed allowed them to be reinstated as their original identity.
goodgoalie, the flounce form was the work of snags. There's a flounce renounce form somewhere too.
Two regular posters, Hopkirk.
Rules are made to be broken.
