Saw a program about newish houses suffering cracking subsidence due to old mine workings. Expert brought up maps of the area showing extent of workings in the householders area. Looked at the site myself of my area, but all that was shown was a street map no mine workings. Does anyone know how I can access them. TIA

phone or visit local council maybe?

our local council err, seem to have lost records of mine-workings in my area.
Try an Ordnance Survey map of the area. They do show old mine shafts. .
Why not directly ask the Coal Authority, their offices are in Mansfield ? Indeed, their website is https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/the-coal-authority and you may find helpful information there.

Use the above map to find your area and then tick the appropriate box to find specific information on your area
I have just looked at that map, and entered my postcode, and it says "development high risk area". What does that mean ? I know there is supposed to be coal somewhere deep under/near here, but does that mean someone is about to start digging ?
