Is it true that Newgate Prison is siuated under The Old Bailey?

Here ya go info, haven't read all the way through. Apparently The Old Bailey is built on the site the prison was on.
Actually more of a was situated rather than is situated.

I hope WIki says it was burnt down in the Gordon (religious) Riots 1780,
and this is described (even historically then) in Barnaby Rudge by DIckens.

Dickens found the joooooonre of historical novel so difficult that he would neva write another one - but he did of course - Tale of Two Cities. Apparently even then people used to write to him and say:

' Madame Defarge couldnt have raised the people of Paris with a mobile phone app Mr Dickens....." and of course if you think about it, they couldnt have.

just as well he abandoned his original plan to have her shopping for clothes at Primarché, and set her to knitting instead.
