Please can anyone tell me why there is a memorial to Edwin Lawrence Godkin (1831-1902) in Haselbech Church, Northants. He was born in Ireland and went to live in the US, so what is the connection? Thanks.

Not sure yet but J Bruce Ismay lived in that village, maybe Godkin went to the school there or was a patron of the school?
The Ismay family are all buried in Haselbech Church too.

Brilliant research there ABerrant! Interestingly, I have Pells on my Mum's side from Boston, Lincolnshire.
I'm in your neck of the woods at the moment doing Rathmills.............any of those in your tree?
Not in mine craft, never heard the name before either, which neck of the woods?
Warrington..............
Oh my Dad's family are from around there, his grandfather was born in Church St Warrington in 1861 and the family also ran the Red Lion at Stockton Heath for 30 years from 1870s. It was Cheshire before the boundary changes in 1972.
Yes it's a tree I'm doing for my cousin's husband..............
