I hope it is not sold. I grew up nearby (Bob was even nearer!) and well remember it being a commercial airport. My mum used to take me on a perimeter road bus ride some afternoons.

A while back Kodak, where I was a Senior product specialist, was entertaining some big wigs from the MOD to which I was party and giving demos, and at lunch in conversation, it came out that the site is riddled with buried ammo both intentional as a stache and unintentional as unexploded German stuff. They have to be VERY careful when any work has been done

Very interestingly I was told that around the site are buried (from WW2) jeeps and other vehicles and guns etc. preserved in waxed paper and cloth for the English resistance movement to have used in time of invasion.- the only problem being that while they know it is there they do not know where and it has been too dangerous with the unexploded stuff to search. Will this story come out if it is sold I wonder?

Is this the same R.A.F. Northolt where you had to turn left at the gasometer on final approach?
