Who salvaged the war vehicles of WW1 and 2
How were the damaged ships,tanks,planes etc salvaged from the 1st and 2nd World wars.

there was an article a few years back saying that they had so many that they just bulldozed some into a large quarry then covered it over with earth. they did not published the name or area of the quarry.
some vehicles were put back on the road and used for many years. wynns transport bought 6 trucks out of a field full of 100 trucks and used them for pulling heavy loads up and down the country. the rest of the trucks were scrapped

Many thousands of aircraft were just pushed over the side of carriers at the end of WW2. Many aircraft were brand new - and many of the carriers were scrapped soon afterwards too! The Royal Navy dumped many Fleet Air Arm aircraft in that manner as the US stipulated under Lend/Lease that RN arcraft couldn't be sold or retained at the end of hostilities but had to be scrapped or returned to the US at British expense.
Colonel Gaddafi famously developed Libya into a wealthy oil state after he took over from King Idris in 1969. Until then, Libya's only source of income was scrap metal collected from WW2 battlefields.
Much of the materiel (ships, planes, tanks, weapons etc) from both world wars were scrapped by whichever combatants were in possession of them at the time. Many continued in service and/or were sold to smaller nations or disappeared through attrition, into museums, private collections etc. Many ships and aircraft still lie where they sank or fell. There are several organisations in the US who search for WW2 aircraft in lakes and jungles in remote parts of the world. They then recover them, restore them and then fly them as warbirds on the airshow circuits.
