PS No one in the house wears parma violet perfume. I hate the smell.
People don't have ghosts just active imaginations
Hear, hear! That, Paddywack, is probably the best answer I have ever seen on any talkboard!
My daughter says we have but was unaware of this story, till I told her. The 2nd previous owner of our house committed suicide by getting drunk then throwing himself into a pond nearby. Before he did, he painted his initials on the garage wall in clear varnish. To see them, you had to stand in one certain position when the light caught it in just the right place. The varnish had run down before it set, and it looked real creepy when you saw it. My daughter would never go in the garage after that! It really spooked her! And she's more convinced than ever that his ghost haunts our house. But it only seems to be when she's had a few vodkas!
Angelas Ashes? Do you live in Limerick? When that film was shown in Limerick, all the audience walked out of the cinema. They had to. It had just finished!
We had two in our last house and it became very frightening.

And paddywak, if you've never experienced it, don't show your ignorance by ridiculing people who have. If you have no personal experience, then all you can say is you don't know.
Somewhere, there is a rational explanation for all so-called 'supernatural' phenomema - there really are no ghosts.

One reasonable explanation I heard is that our brain and nervous system operates by a minute electrical system, and from time to time we can be unknowingly in the presence of an induction field of naturally occuring electricity whose cycles are out of phase with ours. This may cause our brains to 'play-up' and firmly convince us we've seen things which don't exist.

As my great grandfather allus said "Tha'll never see nowt out theere woss than thy selves!".
Why on earth would a drunken would-be siucide pause to open a tin of varnish, find a brush and paint on a wall?

How gullible can you get?
Count Emmup, these are the facts. He painted his initials on the garage wall in varnish.

He got drunk and committed suicide.

Those things happened.

Make of it what you will.
What the sceptics have to keep in mind is that us humans only have five senses. Because we don't sense something does not mean it does not exist !
The scientific establishment now have came round to the fact that its perfectly feasible and possible to have 'other dimensions' around and through us.....

Keep your mind open.
I lived in a haunted house for 2 years, and it was a terrifying experience. Some of the events my housemate and I were subjected to were - an incredibly loud noise that sounded like someone falling down the stairs, hammering on bedroom doors, rooms that had literally just been tidied being trashed (and on one occasion tidied again), hair being pulled / lifted in the shower, lights (like candlelight) on the stairs, footsteps (not creaking floorboard, deliberate, heavy footsteps), the loft hatch being unlocked and pushed open, a strange mist in the bedrooms and stairway, shadows that seemed solid and that moved independantly of change of light etc, CD players turning themselves on (when they were unplugged and had no batteries in them), a heavy breathing sound in the bedrooms, the gas hob being left on unlit overnight (which I know wasn't human error because I have OCD and always checked it five or six times before going to bed).

They are just the most obvious and scary things that happened. The activity built up over the two years, only becoming really scary in the months before we moved out. Most of it happened late at night, I know for a fact it wasn't my housemate / noisy neighbours etc etc. and we always investigated everything that happened to make sure that there was no earthly explination. Mock if you want to, but I know what I experienced.
yes myself and my housem8s we have heard many strange noises including footsteps upstairs when no one was up there we saw a medium and we were told its an old lady who died in our garage and we should try communicating wiv her as she feels no one recognises her presence so we have a lil and although we do still hear things its not as often as it was
In our last house we had 'Bob'. We could smell his cigarette smoke in the corner where his favourite chair used to be. He also used to open the bathroom door a lot and leave it open.
None of our family smoked. After my wife shouted , in no uncertain terms, telling him to stop leaving the bathroom door open, it remained closed.
We think that he eventually realised that his wife/widow had left the house and the smell of cigarette smoke disappeared after some months.
Our dog used to stare into the corner where the smell was and when it was strongest, but he was never any real bother.
R Dean Yaylor did,back in 1967.....

i like it! Evil Dead, hahaha...Anyway, i heard that it was impossible to drown yourself, so to commit suicide by throwing yourself into a pond sounds rather difficult...even if you are drunk (not that drunk though i guess, as he was able to paint his initials in...varnish?...in the garage)...hmmm
yes i have three but none of them give me a hand with housework mores the pity.
Ghosts are supposed to be spiritual.Ttherefore , to learn if they exist we should go to the best known book on the subject...The Bible.
A 'ghost' is supposed to be something left over when we die. something that carries on after death.
What does the Bible say?
(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

The bible says there are NO ghosts.
So just what do people see haunting houses?
THEY ARE DEMONS, MASQUERADING AS DEAD PEOPLE..
And the bible say they DEFINITELY exist.
Jesus himself drove them out of the man at Matthew chapter 8 and luke chapter 8.
i dont have a ghost in my house but one haunts my tent when i go camping... or it could be the wind??? hmmm
