Very cleverly too. Whoever saw the face of Medusa was turned to stone, so Perseus directed the sunlight from his shield onto her face. Thus she saw her own reflection and was turned to stone herself.

if i rember correctly perseus made medusa look at her own reflection
and turned herself to stone !
