Does anyone have access to the Scottish Ancestry web site please. I know the names of my Aunt and Uncle and age of my Aunt.

Aunt, Violet Dow was born in Essex but went to Glasgow to marry her Air Force husband at the end of the war.

She was 16 [born about 1929] and pregnant hence the rush to get married sooner rather than later.

Uncle, is John Turner from Stirlingshire. He would be a couple of years older.......4 at the most I suspect.
They lived in Essex all their life, until John passed away some years ago...... but being married in Scotland it isn't on the Ancestry.co.uk web site.

I would be grateful if anyone can help please

Bless your little cotton socks Craft. Your a gem

Thankyou so much.

Does that make sense or a bigger mystery?
Question Author
Yes thankyou, that is definitly Auntie Violet.

The mystery of the marriage here in Essex remains tho,

As a child myself I was taken to Glasgow where John Turner was stationed so they could be married. I have a photograph of the occasion with my father, and his step sister and brother in their war time uniforms who were wittnesses, I can only think a proper wedding never took place until John came back here after the war.

Strange. How come they are married here I will surely never find out.

I see now....
Aubrey Swan married Sarah Nottage in 1917 and he died in 1923. She then married William Dow in 1928 but after Violet was born.
Question Author
Thankyou, yes I have those details.

Aubrey was my Grandfather. They were only married a short while when he passes away from TB. Granny went on to have 5 more children with William Dow.

Granny's history may be harder to come by as she was from a travelling fair or show people as they were sometimes called.
Aubreys parents disowned him for marry her. They were a better off family apparently.

Interesting this Geniology isn't it but soooo frustrating.

Now thats something I never knew Craft. Violet was the next child after my Mother.

So Granny spent a few years on her own. I loved her dearly. She was killed in a road accident on my Mothers 50th Birthday.

Tell me about it DD, I've got some gypsies from Dorset and Hampshire in my tree, and I'm just starting on the welsh bit where they are all called Price or Williams.
I see 3 births between 1917 and Violet...........Sarah in 1918, Frank in 1924, and Charles in 1926.
