Is it possible to do an address search rather than a name search on the 1911 census on Ancestry.

The only way I know is the 1911 England census books, but you have to put in the persons name.
I have done that in the past when it was first released a few years ago, before there was an index. it's on one of my threads here i'll go look BRB
I can do one for you on FMP, you can search on there by name or address.
try here too, it is a shortcut but you need a surname i guess

craft have you seen the latest coincidence in that long thread lol
Yes I have Dotty...very intriguing.
I find it easier to click 1911 census on ancestry, then scroll down to 1911 England census surname books free updates
Can you search by address that way ironmonger?
I should have stated summary books not surname books.
On the opening ancestry page you must click the 1911 census on the right hand side of the page. It does not work on the left
Hi craft 1948.
You have to put in a name and the address will come up
But ironmonger, the OP wants to search by address not name.
Hi again craft 1948
I understand that but I thought my way was a lot easier than dottys
I just thought he might have a surname of who he might be looking for
It's the only reason I like the 1911 census on Find My Past as opposed to ancestry. On there you can search purely by address with no name needed.
Thanks for the tip. I will try that.
