When someone goes to university, do they stay go onto the electoral roll in their new town?

My son is off to uni, but our electoral roll renewal for home says he can stay on if it is his home in the holidays.

Potentially he could end up on two lists.

My daughter stayed on our home list the whole time she was away at Uni. Your son can only get on 2 lists if he puts himself on another one. If he knows he remains on the home address then he has no need to. Simples :-)

Jack's link answers the question beautifully. Voting at home feels a bit pointless, as the same party always gets in here.

Even though the MP had his snout in the trough, he still romped home.

I think my son relishes the thought of having a real say in a more marginal seat.
