What PS2 games are compatible for PS3

Ive got a Playstation 3 and have heard rumours that some Playstation 2 games can be played on the ps3 - i've tried a couple but nothing seems to happen!!

Can any one tell me which games can be played? or Can all of them be played-maybe i'm doing something wrong??

No problem, however the list is a bit dire though. Many favorites missing or not able to work.

hu cares i had the same problem with the xbox 360 not being completly backwards compatable but once u get a gud enough library of games u wont be playing them my head hurts when i play gta sa coz of the lame graphics compared to next gen consoles lol
