Problem: my TV speakers don't work (either the speakers or the sound card)

I have a pair of stereo PC speakers that I'm running out of the Sky Box on twin phonos into a 3.4mm jack socket on the external speakers. This means I can at least watch TV with sound.

What I can't do is hear sound from the Xbox. This is because I am currently HDMI to HDMI (from xbox to TV).

The only way I can get sound is via the Turtle Beach headphones but I don't always want to wear headphones every time I want to play on the xbox.

I also don't want to lose the HD pic quality - is this only attainable via HDMI? I don't want to go down the scart route.

FWIW there is only one HDMI output from the xbox. What are my cabling options? Ideally I'd like to share the external speakers with the TV.
