Pokemon sapphire- fishing?

i have dowloaded pokemon sapphire rom and an emulator, to play pokemon on my laptop. but when i go to fish, even with a super rod, it tells me, i got a nibble but then, always, tells me it got away, what am i doing wrong, or how can i fi it, help. please?
