Van drivers urged to vote for best brekkie

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Whether you have cereal, fruit, yogurt or a full English to start your day, Breakfast is known as being the most important meal. Although the health benefits of eating a banana greatly outweigh those of munching on streaky bacon and sausage, breakfast starts you off in a good way, supplying you with the energy you need to get through a hard day of work.

Van insurance customers who look forward to their breakfast at the same cafe every morning may want to take part in a Citroen campaign.

The car manufacturer has announced it has joined forces with a national newspaper in a bid to find 'Britain's Best Brekkie'.

The competition allows people to vote on the best eatery as well as their favourite type of breakfast, ranging from a slap-up full english to simple Weetabix and milk.

It seems that as all of our lives get busier many of us are opting to skip breakfast and wait until lunch for the first meal of the day. Many dieting experts believe that skipping breakfast only disrupts your weight-loss mission, as the temptation to snack before lunch will be far greater than if you had eaten a healthy breakfast.

As well as showing support for their favourite diners, light commercial vehicle drivers who take part will also be in with a chance of winning a new Berlingo van.

The competition is due to be launched on February 20th and will run until March 13th.

Commenting on the initiative, Robert Handyside, the manufacturer's commercial vehicle operations manager, said: "When times are tough, you can rely on Citroen to be sunny side up, sizzling with new ideas to bring home the bacon."

Earlier this month, Citroen Contract Motoring announced it was offering a range of "attractive" hire rates on new Berlingo and Relay vans until the end of March.
