Grilled Figs With Feta Cheese

Grilled figs with feta cheese are a classic combination which gives a simple feel and flavour of the Mediterranean, perfect for celebrating summer and the hot weather.

There is nothing quite like a fresh fig, they are sweet and delicious with chewy, tender flesh, full of crunchy seeds. The sweet, fresh flavour goes perfectly with the salty, creamy feta cheese. Feta cheese is satisfyingly salty; the salty flavours combine perfectly with fresh juicy ingredients, feta adds just a little extra to a salad to make it complete. 

Grilled figs with feta cheese is a beautiful starter, ideal for a summer dinner party. It is quick and simple, but the flavours are perfect for the weather and the dish looks very elegant.

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh figs
  • 30g feta cheese
  • 16 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method

  1. Cut the figs in half and grill them cut side down.
  2. Crumble the feta cheese on top of the figs.
  3. Serve decorated with basil leaves and drizzle a little olive oil on top.
