When freezing Cottage Pie (in a tin-foil container) before the final bake, should it be covered with cling film or the thin cardboard cover than comes with the tin-foil dish.

Any other hints re freezing much appreciated.

I'd use the cover than came with the foil dish, but remove it of course for the final bake to get a crisper top.

Hungry now :-)
Cardboard lid.

Use a generous amount of butter/cream/milk in the potato as mash can be a bit slimy when defrosted.
