Can You Make Meringues Using Artificial Sweetner?

...... using splenda or canderel -if so what ratio to egg whites? Also - what is the lowest egg white:sugar ratio possible to achieve meringues with crispy outsides and chewy insides. I make meringues a lot but since being on a fat free diet and avoiding sugar I'm now finding them too sweet for my palette. Thanks!

Thanks woofgang for the speedy reply -I guess its the egg white that makes the meringue successful not the sugar
