You think your Lunch-Boxes are bad, my neighbour came around this morning having picked up the wrong one, so he had a gingerbread man and cream cheese and marmite soldiers!! He said 'his nipper' had gone to playschool with a big pork pie, two pickled onions and a copy of the Sporting Life!
Mercia, You've put me in the mood of baking today, do you have any nice simple recipes for a chocolate cake?
Question Author
probably the simplest one is the victoria sandwich cake

6oz each of butter and caster sugar, 3 eggs, 5oz sieved SR flour, 1oz cocoa powder

Cream butter and sugar together till fluffy, add eggs, (don't worry about curdling, it'll come together!) Fold in flour and cocoa lightly so as not to knock the air out, divide mixture between two greased 7 inch cake tins, bake gas 4, 350 or 180 for about 20 mins until it springs back in the middle when touched and has slightly shrunk away from the sides of tin.
Turn out and cool on a wire rack. When cold, sandwich together with whipped cream, or nutella, put melted choc on top - decorate how you want!! Mercia XX
Oooh Mercia, I'm going to try that, it sounds simple, although knowing me, I'll mess it up somehow lol
Thank you xxx
