My cooker is out of action and all I have is a basic microwave (without combi oven or grill). I've got a load of eggs and bacon that need using up - any suggestions please? Is it possible to get bacon crispy in the microwave? Can you do scrambled eggs or what?

scrambled eggs is no problem: prepare as usual, put them in for 30 secs at a time and each time break up the ring (you'll see) until you get it to how you'd like. just watch you don't overcook it, it's very easy
i dont imagine the bacon would go crispy in the microwave, but you'll deffo be able to cook it in there. Yea, scrambled eggs are great in the microwave, just make sure you keep stopping it to stir etc.

you can cook bacon in the microwave, but it doesn't go crispy.

You can also poach eggs in the microwave

I have always made scrambled eggs in the microwave. you have to watch though because that exra 5 seconds is the difference between perfect eggs+cotton wool!! Also i love my bacon in the microwave coz i dont like it crispy.

I tend to get it crispy the trick is to put the bacon on some paper (in sweden we say toilettpaper don't know what you call it). That way the paper sucks up the fat. There are some canisters you can buy that makes it able to boil eggs in the microwave

someone at my work says he just cracks an egg and puts it in the microwave just like that for a couple of minutes.  I've never tried it though.  He says his wife disaproves of him doing it!
Bacon can get crispy in the microwave, you just have to either put it on paper towels (maybe change them if they get too soggy with grease) or use that bacon cooker thing that is specifically for cooking bacon in the microwave. You remember that? Some little girl invented it a few years ago and there was this big deal about it. It was just this plastic rack that you hung bacon over. My mother has one.

Yes - scrambled eggs mix as if cooking on stove - cook for about 1 minute then stir and check.  Repeat unitl all liquid has turned solid.

Poached eggs - add about half a teaspoon of water, prick the yolk, cover and then cook for anything over 30 seconds.

Bacon can be cooked on paper, but I've often found it sticks to the paper if overcooked.  Try on a plate, cover with a paper towel then cook.  Remember to wipe down all the fat  that splatters!

Cooking times approx and depend on wattage of your microwave.

Wouldn't paper burn in a microwave? I only use a microwave, I have been using it for two years to cook everything. As has already been said (and there is another later thread about scrambled eggs on this board), eggs can be cooked in a microwave. You can boil them in a little water, they don't need to be pricked, or you can cook them without water, I would prick the yokes and whites several times if doing this, and you can poach them in a special microwave poacher which is four little dipped pods in a circular tray. I think it's all much the same though with regards to taste because whichever way you do it they're still being microwaved. I can poach two eggs in 1.5 minutes on high, any more and they will explode, and I can also boil three eggs in seven minutes on medium, and they won't explode. A packet of eight pieces of bacon cooks in three to five minutes on high. Fish cooks very well in microwaves. Packets of fresh plaice containing three pieces cooks in five minutes. Meat also cooks, like chops and neck fillets, but you have to be really careful and check it afterwards with a fork to ensure the juice runs out clear. I used to cook neck fillets in ten minutes. The I changed it to twenty five minutes. I no longer cook meat after I undercooked it once. Some microwaves that have preset buttons can weigh both meat and poultry and tell you how long it has to cook for. To my knowledge there are only two meals that you can't make in a microwave (not even the ones with grills), these are fried eggs and toast.
I didn't think things which needed fat to cook them would cook nicely (i.e. be appetising) in a microwave - roast vegetables, yorkshire puddings, crispy chicken skin, pork crackling. Also don't think a microwave can be used for slow cooking - stews and casseroles.
I rely on my microwave, oven and hob when cooking - they each have their strengths!
