I didn't do a 'proper' starter, just a few canapes and nibbles with a glass or three of champagne, then as
We're having lamb tomorrow as we have more guests coming, but today we have roast rib of Aberdeen angus beef, crispy Yorkshire puddings, golden crispy roast potatoes and parsnips, baby new potatoes, chantenay carrots, steamed broccoli, fine green beans, rich beefy gravy -

Exotic boozy fruit flan with whipped cream, creme caramel or Blackforest Gateau for pud

got some fine engish cheeses and some freshly made oatcakes

Irish coffee - or ordinary coffee

Fine vintage port, cognac, liqueurs

Now, for supper can I get away with some cold cuts, salads, a couple of quiches and some warm buttered rolls? - Or shall I do a hot supper dish?

Go for the cold cuts mercia. Think they'll still be stuffed from dinner. You always make me hungry.

For me it's a choice of fish cakes and chips or a bacon butty :-(
I would go for the cold cuts, I wouldn't have room for anything else. All that food sounds lovely.

I was having roast chicken dinner but stuff that I'm coming round yours mercia!!! That all sounds fantastic!

The cold cuts sounds fine after the feast you have produced!

all our welcome, there's loads - I always do loads of vegetables, and there's a stack of meat - would you like a proper starter? I have melon, and parma ham....or i've some avocados.....giant prawns...although those were for tomorrow with the lobster tails...i could whip up some chicken liver pate with brandy and double cream and garlic...
are you trying to kill me? all i've had is a beef and tom sarnie with some wedges :-(

I can just imagine the size of merciasounds kitchen, she probably has three fridges, a commercial-sized freezer and restaurant-type hob, and an extra oven on the size! :-)
I hope your family appreciate you Mercia, in truth I am having a fillet steak with homemade chunky chips and mushrooms with a bearnaise sauce (all for me LOL)
