I bought a chicken on friday. Cooked it on saturday and had chicken roast for dinner. Today we had chicken salad. My question is, there is still loads left. How long will it keep in the fridge?

I would eat what you can tomorrow. If it was fresh, you could always freeze it.There was a debate on one site about if you can re freeze chicken. So long as you heat it to the right temperature, they said it was ok.Must admit I diced with death and tried it.Still here but its up to yourself.
you'll be fine for a coupel more days, why not make curry or something and freeze it if you've had enough of chicken ro now

It was fresh when I bought it. It had a use by date of 09 Feb. As i cooked it on 06 Feb I hoped it would be okay to eat on Tuesday. We have had it 2 days running, I don't really want it again tomorrow. I suppose the moral of the story is,next time buy a smaller one. Thanks for your advice. Cas
freeze it then, make soup/stew/curry etc and bung in freezer

I quite fancy roast chicken now.Pity I just come back from the shop.poo
you shouldn't refreeze raw frozen chicken if you let it defrost but don't cook it.
if you thaw a frozen chicken and then cook it, you can freeze the cooked meat.
it's the same for any meat.
caslass, tuesday would be the last day i would eat any leftovers from your chicken. must have been a big chicken to have got a roast and a salad out of it and still have lots left over. it wouldn't last that long in our house :)

There are only 2 of us. Cas
there are only two of us too :) i think we must be greedy.
And don't forget after you strip the chicken from the bones, put the bones in a saucepan of water with onions, herbs, seasoning and boil it to make some wonderful chicken stock.; you then use the stock to make your curry or whatever - really adds to the flavour, or you can freeze the stock for later.
My Mum is 78. She's a widow and for the past few years she has bought a fresh chicken on a Friday. She roasts it on Saturday and leaves it out til bedtime then fridges it. She uses it cold for a roast on Sunday. On the following 3 days she will take it out of the fridge and cuts what she wants and uses it in various recipes. Then on the 4th day she boils the bones, removing the last of the meat, adds some veg and rice and gets meal 5 from it.

I don't recommend it, I tell her I don't like her doing it but she's her own person and far from suffering ill effects from it - as I speak.
