Do I really need to defrost them totally before cooking? Is defrosting recommended only to ensure even cooking all the way through, or will they actually be unsafe to eat before then? I'm starving and can't wait another couple of hours lol! x

Ive done it before and still alive lol

You would have to cook them really really slowly tho so they cook all the way through
Pop them in Microwave for couple of minutes before Frying in the Pan
You can cook sausages from frozen.

Anything that had four legs (beef, pork) you can cook from frozen.

Anything that had two legs (chicken, turkey) needs to be defrosted before you cook.

That's an easy way to remember, isn't it?

At least, that's what my mum was told on a food hygiene course - and shes got a s'tificate to prove it!! :)
...and when i want to defrost chicken breasts or something, and they are taking a long time, i pop the bag they are in into a bowl of cold water (not warm) and it speeds up the defrosting process.

:)

Thank you for your replies. So defrosting isn't necessary to remove any bacteria etc. in the frozen meat, but only for the even cooking thing?

My stomach is rumbling. I'm going to risk it! x

Omlette - defrosting doesn't remove bacteria. Any bacteria present in the meat or veg before it's frozen will still be present, but should be killed off by the process of cooking. If the food is defrosted, this is should happen. But if some of the food is still frozen when you cook it, some of it may be merely warm when you think it's done. Being merely warm allows the bacteria to multiply, with possible ill effects on you. As the packaging on frozen foods states...''Ensure food is piping hot before serving''.
