I tried to boil off burnt-on cheese sauce from my mum's nice saucepan & I let it boil dry! I'm worried I've ruined the pan completely. Any suggestions on how I can repair the damage would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I've been looking on the internet but I think this type are discontinued :-(
First option is to leave the pan in cold water over night. This, somehow, breaks down the proteins that might be left in any burnt residue. I learnt this many years ago when I worked in the kitchen of a small hotel. Manys a time poridge would end up being burnt onto the bottom of a saucepan and I'd break into a sweat cleaning it only to given this tip by the owner and surprisingly it works! Not quite sure how well it will work on something you might have effectively destroyed by even burning the water in it?

I'll give it a go. Thank you :-)
pour loads of salt onto the bottom of the pan and leave overnight. make sure the pan is dry before putting the salt in. I've found that works quite well, Use a scourer to work the salt in the next day and wash a normal. Hope that helps.
Don't use salt and a scourer if the pan has any kind of non-stick coating!!!
I have put washing up liquid in water into the pan and bolied it up for a while. this usually makes it easier to get clean.
I've used washing powder - defo leave to soak over night.

If all else fails hide the saucepan or err leave home?
put hot water in pan and put a dishwasher tablet in,steep overnight, works a dream

thank you guys - i'll try them all. & i'm buying takeaways from now on!!
I vaguely remember reading that biological washing powder (not liquid) is the best thing to soak pans with burnt food in.....something to with the enzymes.......Good luck x
Don't know if I am too late and you have thrown your pan away already ... but pour regular cola into it and leave to soak, works miracles :)
kim and aggie the other day hasd a burnt rusty pan and they dipped half a spud in washing liquid and rubbed it off
Kim and aggie also poured coke into the burnt pan and warmed it up, I have just done this with mine and it worked a treat, all the burn removed. Great.
