Hi! I just took some meatballs out of the freezer for dinner, but I don't have a microwave....I forgot to take them out last night.
Can I just stick them in the oven frozen?
I'd normally shallow fry them, but this isn't possible now, is it?

no i would not, they are to be defrosted!!!
I'm sure you could max, just start them on a low setting so they're not cooked on the outside but still frozen on the inside! xxx
Or! Be cheeky and pop round to your neighbours and ask can you defrost your balls in their microwave? Worth a try? lol! xxx
i cook them from frozen all the time - as long as they are thoroughly cooked and piping hot the whole way through you'll be ok x
yep, just shove them in the oven and they'll be fine.
in this weather plenty of folk have frozen balls! yep warm them nice n slowly lol
If you haven`t already done them, Max, I`d fry them slowly in a frypan. Keep turning till they`re defrosted thoroughly and hotted up. No problem there, you just have to watch them carefully. By the way, Max, wanted you to know that I was impressed by some advice you gave late last night to someone. (you weren`t sure if he was genuine, but you assumed he was and gave him very good, wise advice). I just happened to glance in on you as I was coming on at 3 am this morning

lol! Thanks everyone, will stick them in the oven now then. :O)
I've also realised I have no tomatoes, so my pasta idea is out the window....lol Going to cook them with indian tikka massala sauce and rice as an experiment...I'm trying to empty my cupboards before I do another shop! lol

Well thank you MsEVP! I notice it's gone now...ah well!

I'll start them in the oven and finish them off in the sauce on the hob. Hopefully it won't be too awful...
well buggar the guidelines, as a chef my advice does not matter!!!
lol puddicat ! I would have thought they were ok to cook from frozen, so long as they were cooked quite slowly to allow them to get really hot.. but then I never cook meat... hehe...

Well, quick update!
I did them for half an hour in the oven, about 200C, then transfered to my sauce and cooked on the hob for another 10 mins.
They were great! :O)

Can you update us again in a couple of hours max :0/

They were cooked through, no problem there....Why is it different to defrosting in the microwave? Lots of ready meals are cooked from frozen....Is there a difference? Just curious!
Cos the cooking time would be different!!!
