Cooking Oil

I've just been attacked by a bottle of cooking oil yesterday. Does anyone know how to remove sunflower oil from a cotton t-shirt? Spray on Vanish was no help at all!

I think you might be right Richard 1966. I suppose I was just hoping someone might have a miracle stain remover I'd never heard of before. Sods law it happened to be one of my best T-shirts it!!

Thawpit, removes oil stains.....haven't seen it in years? Try swalfega or even petrol.

Rub neat Fairy Liquid into it while the Tshirt is dry

Leave it for at least an hour and then stick it in the washing machine as normal, so long as you get the stain soon enough it will completely come out!

Thanks for those suggestions. I'll give them a try before I finally dispose of it. I remember Thawpit from when I was a kid - it used to smell like the dry cleaners didn't it? Like you, I haven't seen it in years - but it might still be around.

try running a carpet cleaner attachment over it

Buy Vanish cystals, mix some with a little water to make a paste. Spread the paste on the stain, leave for ten mins and then wash as normal. I haven't found a stain that can beat this yet.
