I find eating activia helpful for my digestion, but I'm bored with the flavours. Would any probiotic or live yogurt have the same effect? Is there a pill I could take instead? Any advice would be very welcome.

Interesting experiment on a BBC program last year. They took a bunch of volenteers and fed half probiotic yoghurts and the other half a diet high in fruit and vegtables.

After a few weeks those on the fruit and vegtables had healthier digestions.

If you're looking for a pill that might not be what you want to hear but there's no substitute for a good diet and there's no shortage of variety in fruit and veg!
i agree with jake-the-peg but one of my friends takes 'prebio' it is a pill from Holland and Barett I think - perhaps could try boots though.

Thanks for the healthy eating tips, but I already have a very good diet with plenty of fruit and veg.
In which case you may not benefit that much from extra pills and the like.

Your body can only make use of so much vitamins

Still if you feel they help I guess that's what's important
With a healthy body and a good diet nobody needs vitamin pills or supplements of any kind.

You are wasting your money.

Please don't answer if you're going to lecture me about my diet. I have health problems that are helped by the yogurts and I'm looking for other ways to get the same effect. My diet is very good, thank you, and this is my choice.
roomby on here you have to accept you will be given everyones opinions, if you dont like it that is fair enough but dont let it get to you. They have taken the time to respond with what to be honest is what any doctor would tell you.
roomby I have activia everyday & I'm sure they've helped my IBS too...not a psychological thing, I'm not the kind of person to be swayed that way...Maybe I would have improved anyway in time but as they obviously don't do any harm, don't break the bank & I actually enjoy them I'll carry on....luckily I love the strawberry & never get bored of them!
There are other brands which I expect would be ok & ask about pills at your local pharmacy if that's what you'd rather take.
HI
Bit irrelevent to the question but just to add - a balanced diet will not get you all the vitamins you need - for example it is almost impossible to get all the vitamin D that your body needs from food alone (this is important for your body for conditions such as osteoporosis)
the liquid sugar content in some of these drinks is high. yes, you can get probiotic tablets i take them. i don`t want to know your health problems, but have a look at the benfits of taking mastika.
My mum has stomach ulcers and swears by Onken live yogurt - she has the plain one on cereal in the morning and the orange one also tastes gorgeous. As for probiotics, not all have a high level of bacteria in them, so it's worth paying a bit more. The best are by Viridian Nutrition and Solgar, which you can get at health food shops.
