Just got some from a chap at work who caught them last night.

Usually, I lightly pan-fry them in a little oil with ginge and spring onion. What else can I do with them?

put some orange segments in them with butter and a bit of chopped up red pepper and some sprigs of dill salt and pepper cover in foil and bake 25mins
make a pate with it? 8oz mackeral, cooked and flaked, 2 and a half oz. double cream, 4 tblspns mayonnaise, 1 tsp. horseradish and 1 tsp.lemon juice.
combine all the ingredients, chill for a little while, and serve with melba toast, french bread, or whatever.
I would gut and clean them and put them in the freezer until you attend a suitable BBQ. It will make a refreshing difference to have some fresh fish as oppose dto the generally brought along burgers and bangers.
V2 how can you call them fresh when they were stored in the freezer. They are frozen!!!
