Does anyone know if this has been withdrawn from shelves or is there a world shortage? Loads of Lazy Chillies, Lazy Ginger, but not a pot of Garlic to be had anywhere. It's just disappeared!

Do you mean the English Provender variety in those attractive square jars ? I add a whole tablespoon to spaghetti bolognese.

If so, there's loads of it round my way ! Sorry that doesn't help you though. I'll get you a jar in the Coop at lunchtime.
Can you get me a jar too please whiffey? It's disappeared up here in Glasgow as well!

That's the stuff! Goes in everything in our house (we're warding off vampires!!) Our Co-op is out of stock, as is Sainsburys, Morrisons and Tescos! Has been for weeks! Resorted to the paste variety, having run out, but it's not doing it for me! Maybe I'll Google it now I know the brand name! Thanks whiffey!
Have you tried going to a Turkish grocers? They sell the equivalent..
Question Author
No Turkish grocers in my neck of the woods, to my knowledge, but thanks for the tip! As today a slow day in the office, I've emailed them direct, enquiring about the disappearance of the said product, and have enquired about it's absence in Glasgow too, yingyang, so I'll keep you posted! x
Purchased lazy garlic in Tesco Buckingham about a month ago, no problem, loads on the shelf. You dont say what area you live in.

Kent! Pots of the stuff around until about 3 weeks ago...now not a sniff! Stock up incase it happens where you are!!
Yes we have plenty at tescos in derby. There is also a frozen variety in sainsburys - comes out like little ice cubes and there are loads of herbs too.
I've seen it on the shelves too. If you want I'll send you a jar as a gift?

Personally I prefer the fresh stuff. We have garlic on a rope. About 20 garlic!! :o)
Is life really too short to crush a clove of garlic?
Wow, figi , did you really go to all the bother of opening and reading this question just so you could make a sarcastic remark? Life really is too short for THAT!

Nixnjay, thanks for doing that. I look forward to finding out more.x
I have a jar of the Waitrose own brand purchased about a month ago.

Around September time I did read something about a potential shortage of garlic in the newspaper - I can't remeber the whole story though.
The trouble with crushing your own garlic is sticky sticky fingers ! The English Provender brand is of very high quality in its own yummy oil. I use loads of it.

Just to rub it in, there are 8 jars on the shelf in my Coop today !

Poor figi, suggested the obvious and got a **********. Most unfair. Most supermarkets also stock tubes of garlic puree if you are lazy like me. Morrison's also do bags of the frozen stuff.
Gef, I happen to think it's unfair when somebody posts a question and gets a condscending and unhelpful remark from another user. Of course it's bleedin obvious to use the real thing and I'm sure Nixnjay is aware that it exists but that 's not what he/she asked. Even if figi meant her advice genuinly I'm sure you would agree she could have phrased in a more friendly way.
Looks like I'm tonights evil pixie. :)
I bought a pot of it only yesterday from my local Tesco in the South of England. I notice the packaging has changed since my last pot, so maybe there might be a delay because of this?
I agree with you whiffey ~ that stuff is amazing. I bought mine from Waitrose :o)
Have you tried Gardn gourmet's Garlic - it comes in a tube and Tescos stock there tubes. you get them in the chilled aisle near the veg. I have found them very good as you can freeze the tubes to use later and it also says if you use it straight from the freezer you don't need to use as much.

I am addicted to their basil. the taste is heaven totally fresh basil. the taste is to die for. I know what you feel like there as I only recently found that they stocked it in tescos still as they used to have it in Morrison's and asdas and they all dropped it. Sainsbury's still did a few but the one you wanted like me with basil was never there.

With them all their herbs are original herbs without anything else added. I tried the schwarz versions which didn't need to be chilled and was totally unimpressed they tasted lke fake basil and garlic
I checked today and there's a brand called 'Rajah' that do it (also make chutneys etc) - although i'm guessing you'd only find it in exotic food stores.
