I haven't sourced anything on line for you, but have you thought about taking a short night class in wine tasting, it shouldn't be too expensive or time consuming. I have been thinking about it myself.

I never used to drink red wine but have recently acquired a taste for it. To know more about it online just punch in "red wine guides", and a whole bunch of sites pops up that may help.
Personally you could try from Tesco's -"Honeywood" Shiraz 2003 made by "California Hills" or "Lisa McGuigan" Merlot (Tempus Two).
Both retail about the 5ish mark and are full bodied with none of that synthetic beetroot taste got from some lesser wines.
Hope this is useful.
there are only 2 types of red or any other wine, the stuff you like drinking or not, dont get into the habit of choosing what to drink with what ,if you,ve only just discovered wine you prob wont appreciate the diff. and its no problem if you drink italian wine with chinese food or aussie with a kebab, just enjoy
