Hi all, one of my Christmas pressies was a hip flask for me to put in my golf bag so I can have a snifter on the way round.

How long will the whisky keep once decanted? I may not drink it for months - will it 'go off' in a metal flask if not consumed quite quickly? Many thanks.

Better safe than sorry: drink it in one go.
Forever, although it will not improve.

I accidentally left some whisky in my flask for a couple of months after which it tasted a bit metallic. I can only agree with JamesEverton : Better safe than sorry.
