orange and oxo

Cilla Black was on the Paul OGrady show and said she eats slices of orange with an oxo sprinkled on top has anybody tried this or would anybody?

Never tried it myself, but a friend of my mum puts an crumbled-up Oxo cube on almost everything he eats. If he and his wife go out for a meal, he takes his own Oxos with him, and even takes a supply on holiday. His wife is convinced that one day he will get arrested as a drug smuggler at the airport!

As a child I used to eat oxo cubes. Preferred them to sweets! Can't think that the salt content was very good for me. I'm not keen on oranges and can't imagine them with oxo flavour! But then, I always thought Cilla was a bit strange.

I saw the same thing on "Eating with... Cilla Black" on BBC2. I had to try it and we had a spare Oxo cube and you know what... it tasted exactly like you'd imagine an Oxo-cube-rubbed orange to taste: nasty.
