Nooooooogahhhh.... and it's horrid IMO!
Its lovely and its Nugget,,,,,,,,,,

reddoggy - I concur. Not only is that pink suff absolutely horrific, but indeed, we used to call it 'noo-gaar'.

I have a feeling this might be a north/south thing, because a mate of mine at work (from Newcastle) swears blind that it's pronounced 'nugget'.

Im from Belfast and we pronounce it 'nugget'.
I think it is a north/south thing because where I was born, in Beverley, E. Yorks, everyone called it 'nugget' but once I'd had a few French lessons, I discovered it's French and should be pronounced 'noooogahhhhh' . Where I live now, in Cornwall, it's called 'noooogahhhh'.... closer to France, I suppose ;o)
..the pink and white goo is gross...my brother lives in France just over the border from Switzerland...he bought me some divine nougat, in slab form ,with whole almonds and raspberries in it....drool.... I still call it nugget though because thats what my mum always called it...

The correct pronounciation is Noo-gah, but of course various accents will say it differently!

I was brought up to say nugget and assumed it was a class thing. Ermintrude mentions that gorgeous sounding nougat from Switzerland. Wonder if you can buy it on the net.

I'm from Surrey, & as a kid it was always nugget. When I became more grown up it changed to noogah.

On a similar note, I always pronounced Nestle as Nessle. Now it's Neslay!
