Now that the excitement about air tryers has died down I am wondering how pwople wko bought them have been getting on with them.

I live on my own but use the oven more when my daughter comes to stay.

I buy ready meals sometimes and some need oven cookung instead of microwaving.

There are some on offer at £40 or so 4 litre capacity

Any views or advice welcome - thanks

I said I would never get one, then husband got me one for Christmas!!!

I wouldn't go as far to say I love it but I use it 50% of the time, I have cooked everything from fish fingers to steak in it and a few ready meals. I believe it's takes about a third of the cooking time off.
Also cooked a whole chicken in it.

but if I was cooking a roast dinner or a meal with several oven elements, I would go back to the oven.

If I were cooking for one often I would probably buy one if I didn't have my combi microwave.

We have a Ninja two drawer thing that's the size of a small van.

It lives under the stairs and is perfect for keeping my work boots at a back-saving height or when I'm at work, to perch our collapsible washing basket on.

Versatile indeed.

Versatile indeed, Doug. Is it tall enough for you to sit on to put on your workboots or do you have to carry them all the way into the next room?

I usually go into the next room but in a pinch the second stair does the job, bhg.

It was too expensive to test with the weight of a beer-loving adult but I might try it out as a perch for a small child at a family BBQ this summer.

It always pays to be cautious, doug.

wouldn't have them about me - first time I cooked 2 sausages and the noise from it put me nuts - I gave it to my nephew after one session

It's just a small hot air oven. It works much as you'd expect.  Convenient, but don't expect haute cuisine.

I use my air fryer almost daily.  It's great for cooking chips (although, when using frozen ones, it's important to buy only those which are sold as 'suitable for air frying'), frozen pies, sausages (yummy!), 'toasted' sandwiches, individual casserole dishes, fresh fish (wrapped in foil), etc.  (It's amazing jusy how many different foods can be cooked in them!).

My only regrets are that
(a) I bought a tiny (1.8 litre) one, whereas a model with a larger capacity would have given me greater flexibility ; and
(b) I bought a single drawer model, whereas a dual drawer one would have allowed me to, for example, cook both sausages and chips at the same time.

The very least I expect is haute cuisine. I don't switch it on if I want cauld cuisine.

Thank you  all.  Your answers are in true AB tradition - tboughtful, informative and making me laugh so much as well

Lovely people x

I am currently using mine as least every day, more often twice a day. If I was cooking for one I'd deffo get one

Question Author

Thanks bedn>bs - roughly what sort of things do you use it for please ?

Well everything at the moment! I don't currently have a kitchen or an oven as we have Work happening

I even did toast in it the other day the other day because I don't have a toaster.

I use it just as I would use my oven. Obviously I can't do stirfrry and spag bol type things in it (but if I was reheating either of those I might be able to do that).

My must have would be that the Drawer can go in the dishwasher, But I'm not sure if you have that requirement or not

Question Author

Thanks bednobs - hope you get your kitchen back soon x

Ours has virtually replaced our oven. It is marvellous and we would not like the inconvenience of not having one now.

As a singleton myself, I use mine frequently.  I've even "boiled" eggs in it dry, quickly discovering which heat/time setting produces the best for my preference.

Like Chris, I do wish I had bought a larger 2-drawer one.

As already stated, not really very appropriate for haute cuisine.
