I use honey a lot in cooking especially on roasted new potatoes, parsnips and veg.

I can't remember which but i'm sure honey has very good either antibiotic or antiseptic properties....can't remember which if any but i know it's very good for you.

Honey is certainly better for you than refined (white) sugar, but it's supposed health qualities are now reckoned to be over-estimated. Still, if you like it, go for it.

No questions are dumb - there are things you know, and things you don't - apart from Quizmonster who knows everything (LOL!)

Thanks. So, why is it better then? :) I know refined sugar is just empty calories - no nutritional value - but what's honey got in it that's good?

Found this site quite interesting

Thanks for that. Very informative. It's basically just sugar and water, there's almost no vitamin or mineral content.
I was told that eating locally produced honey can help easy hayfever symtoms. Maybe an old wives tale though!
Menuka honey is supposed to be really good for you its better than sugar try that!! maybe hard to find though

Local honey can help as the bees will be feeding off local plants which are the ones giving you the hayfever...don't know the exact science behind it but as far as i understand you get small doses of the pollen which act like a vaccine.
