I've a cake but despite using lots of syrup when hot, now it's cold I think its dry. Can I add more syrup now that it's cold?

Sorry that should say: I've made a cake.
I don't think the syrup will be absorbed now that it's cold, Crisgal. Serve it with some hot custard. That'll be lovely.

Thanks Tilly2. Unfortunately it's for a charity cake sale so custard not an option this time. I'll have to whip up another!
Warm the syrup and It will get a lot runnier, are a little extra lemon juice to off set the sweetness. Do it from the bottom of the cake
