In a mint and red currant gravy, petit pois and dauphinois potatoes is on our plates tonight.
It’ll make a nice change from the salads we seem to have eaten a lot of lately due to the warm weather and my inability to be bothered cooking.
Might open a bottle of red too, or may just finish off the opened bottle of white in the fridge, or even a glass of Bulmers cider...decisions, decisions.

I love lamb shanks!
Home cooked lamb shanks or the ready cooked, reheat variety?
Question Author
Ready cooked courtesy of Sainsburys, Barry. They’re delicious and I doubt I’d ever be bothered doing my own. 50 minutes in the oven, ta da!
I also really like M&S ham hock in orange and cranberry sauce, unfortunately they’re discontinued.
I do cook my own but always have a pack of the ready cooked variety in my freezer for emergencies.
It's no big deal cooking them in the slow cooker.
If they're ready-cooked why do they need 50 minutes in the oven?
Question Author
Don’t know Jack, it’s just what it says on the box. Maybe it’s to make sure they’re thoroughly heated through.
They’re chilled not frozen, came in the click and collect this morning.
I reheat those ready cooked ones in the microwave, more gravy that way
Love lamb Shanks, I recently had pork hocks too.
But tonight it is falafel, Greek salad, warm pittas and a selection of dips.
Haven't eaten pork hock in this country but Schweinshaxe was a staple of good pub grub in Germany. You could have it boiled or roasted (went for roasted) with a shed load of chips and beer. I used to love that.

LOL....
I think there might be an intended double entendre there but I might be missing something
No! no! 237.....just my weird and sensitive sense of humour.

Sharon, I also got falafel and pitta bread in click and collect, that’s lunch tomorrow sorted. I like it with yogurt, mango chutney, sliced cucumber and tomatoes, all stuffed in the pitta. Yum!
I hope none of you were cooing and drooling over the pretty lambs in cardies the other day. :-)
I always cook them in their cardies, they look so cute on the plate.
a pic of sheep who have lost their lower legs....

I do love a good lamb shank though, particularly Moroccan style -

I got a reduced pack of fat lamb shanks in Marks the other day...sitting in the freezer waiting for inspiration...not mint!
Bookmarking the Moroccan lamb shanks...just the sort of thing I'd like.
Sounds nice I had cod in breadcrumbs and sliced avocado, he had the code with homegrown tatties and mange tout
