at my sister in laws, She'd done a gammon joint in her slow cooker with Diet coke for the liquid, the taste was absolutely divine, I have often done diet coke with chicken but never with ham, it was so tender it melted in the mouth

Any type of pork deserves to be slow-cooked in some decent dry cider. (Never sweet cider though; it just doesn't work!).

I do it the same way with apple juice, orange juice, cider or ginger beer.

I've done it in the slow cooker in date molasses - I can highly recommend. Would make excellent ham croquettes too.

Never tried chicken or ham that way Bobbs, it does sound nice though. Chicken can sometimes be too dry ..

I'm making asparagus, broccoli and stilton soup later. I've got a plug in Tefal hob which is fantastic and a complete saviour.
