at my sister in laws, She'd done a gammon joint in her slow cooker with Diet coke for the liquid, the taste was absolutely divine, I have often done diet coke with chicken but never with ham, it was so tender it melted in the mouth

I think we sang it at school hahaha

Put on the lid, Bobbi, not lead :) I remember The Andrews Sisters singing that on Family Favourites
Question Author
aww ta Barry o:)
Well ,you would have a lead ,on an Electric frying pan.
Ahh I do know it Bobbs after all ....
Sorry, bobbi, I missed your question on this thread. Yes the kitchen will have an island with a built in wine cooler and breakfast bar. I wanted the full size wine cooler next to the double American fridge freezer but there wasn't enough room for that and the Butler's larder so unfortunately I had to compromise.

We made some changes to the kitchen design last week and we've got to go back in a couple of weeks to see what he's come up with and make any final tweaks. Fitting has been pushed back a couple of weeks just to make sure we've got everything ready.

That sounds fabulous Lcg , I really would love an island , will you have a quooker too ?
Yes, the Quooker is actually free as part of the deal and we're getting the integrated coffee maker for next to nothing too.
you should see my kitchen, its the size of a postage stamp, can just about fit in cooker, and fridge freezer. Its serves me well enough, but would love a full blown kitchen, to rattle around in.
Question Author
Mines of average size , not big enough for that elusive island haha
My parents had a tiny kitchen for years and years and my selfish dad completely took over the work surfaces with all his junk and refused to put it somewhere more appropriate. I don't know how my mother didn't murder him.

A few years ago an eccentric relative died and left them about £250k so my mother wanted to move to the country but my dad didn't and as usual the selfish git got his own way. However they built a two-storey extension and now she's got the kitchen she always wanted. His cr@p is still strewn all over the place though even though he has a garage and 3 sheds. It's all about him!!

You’ll finally have the house of your dreams by the sounds of it, a nice forever home x
he sounds very selfish - I would shove him out the door to be fair. into one of the sheds.
He is Emmie. He totally conned my mother into having that third she'd. He's got 3 sheds, four motorbikes and she's not allowed a dishwasher because, "It's a waste of money."

He promised to sell one of the bikes to pay for the third shed but once the shed was built and someone offered him a decent price for the bike he made an excuse saying, "I'm not giving it away."

Now he's on about having another bike. You couldn't make it up.
This won't be the forever home, Bobbi. Rather the penultimate one... I'll get his lordship drunk before I tell him.
Question Author
Haha, I like your style, reach for the stars huh?
We have an "island" in our kitchen - it's called a kitchen table which is so much more versatile than those dreadful fixed to the floor things.
Question Author
Mine would be a fixed island with a black sparkly worktop , I can see it now…or maybe grey? I can dream haha
Ours worktop is dark grey with lighter grey cupboards.

The opposite wall and between the kitchen cupboards will be brick and then the snug over the other will be a dark blue wall - something like sapphire salute - will a light wood media unit and corner sofa with some industrial style lighting. The tiling is a block matte grey, same outside and in.

We're looking at mid-August now for fitting. One day all this upheaval will be a distant memory.
