Pickle on cheese or bread? I put cheese on one slice, spread the pickle on the other slice then sandwich the two together.
How do you make yours?

Pickle, cover with cheese, under the grill, melty melty, 2nd slice on top, yummy yummy.

I really want one now.
I have found caramelised onion which I use instead of pickle. Use cold on sandwhich or hot in toastie
Mix the grated cheese with the pickle in a bowl, eat it then remember you've forgotten the bread ;-)

Wow! So many ways to make a simple sandwich.

Piccalill? Yes or no?
Cheese on one slice of bread, pickle spread on the cheese and then topped with the other slice of bread.
^^ Sometimes - I buy sandwich piccalilli (more easily spreadable) & like it with pastrami especially.
Question Author
I make my own piccalilli, we all love it.
No, cancel the pickle.
Slice a tasty tomato, and put a layer on. Perhaps a thin layer of salad leaves as well. Replace the butter with mayonnaise, on both slices.
Lovely!
I say, oi. Mrs TTT, make be Cheese and pickle sarnie!
Question Author
It must be dreadful to be so incapacitated you are unable to make a sandwich, TTT. I hope whatever condition you have improves
Cheese & mild mustard is nice too!!
I spread various chutneys, mayonaise or mustards on my bread instead of butter. For cheese and tom i would probably go for the caramalised onion or the mayo, i'll use a tomato chutney if i have no toms, for ham and tom i'll either use English mustard or plum chutney. I also do the same when having bread with my meals.
Same way as you, barry. I hadn't realised there were so many ways to make a cheese and pickle sandwich. Think I would like one now.
M&S Cornish Cruncher cheese with black currant jam, instead of pickle, is my favourite
Question Author
Ken, is your English mustard proper English mustard? Powdered Colman's from a tin, mixed with either milk or water.
Question Author
Yes! I like the blackcurrant jam idea - I can see that would work very well, Margo
come on barry lighten up! I do the same as you, butter (NOT marge) both slices, cheese on one side, pickle on t'other and whack em together and stuff in boat race, magic! I do that because you can spread the pickle more evenly on the bread rather than the cheese.
Question Author
Agreed, TTT. Much easier to spread on the bread than the cheese :D
It's delicious Barry, give it a try.
A hot spicy mango chutney works well with a strong cheddar.
