Just had a new fan put in one of the ovens and had my card ready to pay when the repair man asked for cash or a cheque. Had to go upstairs and look through the files to see if I still had a chequebook and luckily found it. The last cheque I wrote was in August 2013. The shop we bought the cooker from is closed at the moment but they are still doing repairs but no means of accepting card payments. Happy with price of £20 callout, new part and labour total £88 but it threw me me when he asked for a cheque.

About 10 minutes ago -paid the Coalman.
I can't remember the last time I used a cheque. If cards aren't accepted, I pay by bank transfer - easier for both parties.
Jan 2017, for me and TBF I only needed that because of an IT iliterate.
I haven't written a chq in Lord knows how long, but I banked a dozen at work last week. I also have no idea where my chq book is.
I had to check my check book which was issued in 2009. I can't see any reason for a Gregory these days.
My cattery always wants to be paid by cheque so usually 2 or 3 times a year but obviously not lately :-)
cheque book - doh!
I really can't remember to be honest
Once a year for the village magazine.
a while ago, our hairdressers only accepts cash or cheque. so had been paying by cheque until i decided to give him cash instead...
I've just had to hunt through a drawer to see if I've actually got a cheque book. It seems that I have but it's simply one that I got when I upgraded by Santander account from a 'cash card' one to a 'debit card' one. That was probably about 15 years ago and I've not used a single cheque from it yet.

That's only a 'reserve' account though. I've had my main current account with Barclays for a least a couple of decades and never had a cheque book for it.

I can't remember the last time that anyone paid me by cheque either. The company I occasionally contract for (during non-Covid times), supervising travel surveys across the country, used to pay by cheque but they switched to using bank transfer about a decade ago.

Try telling that to our coalman! As a business we sometimes struggle to get paid through BACS, especially from the 60 somethings . If we sell anything at the Livestock Mart we get paid by cheque and any entries to agricultural shows had to be paid by cheque, in fact I'm sending off two separate cheques this afternoon for subscriptions to breed societies, so cheques are still very much used in some places.
I haven't written a cheque in years but we got a cheque from the Solicitor the other week when we remortgaged.
A couple of days ago. I sent it as a birthday gift. I often use cheques.
Thanks to TTT I will always call a cheque book a Gregory from now on.
I use cheques every month for charity donations and I use a cheque to pay my Council tax every month and I pay my gas and electric by cheque !
I can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque out but I have recently had some cheques for closing balance refunds.
i only use vouchers for gifts now, as brother has no time to go to bank during the week to put in cheques for the nephews birthdays. so its amazon usually, that way i can send them direct without them coming here first.
Once a month to pay my credit card. I'm sure I could do it by transfer from my online account, but I haven't worked out how to do it.

Repair man said he would normally just phone a card payment through to the shop for verification but, as I said, it is closed. I did suggest that he should ask them to give him the bank details as a bank transfer would have been a lot easier.
