Help needed! I can't get to my butcher and he can't get to me. Family is begging for my fabulous toad in the hole and the only place I can buy the sausages from is Tesco.

There is a huge selection - can you recommend any? Must be ordinary pork sausage with no extras such as tomatoes or leek.

I will, I haven't put in my next order yet so will put them in :-)
eleanor the ones you like contain white pepper, black pepper, nutmeg extract and mace extract, so I wouldn't buy them as they would be too spicy for me. I never add salt, pepper or any spice to anything so my food is very bland to some, but it's fine for me
Hope barry enjoys his toad in the hole.
I never mastered that dish, my ex used to call it 'frog in a bog!'
Hi Barsel, yes they do but I can honestly say you can't taste it. My husband & granddaughter do not like Spivey sausage & they will eat these.
*spicey*
Oops, let’s get it right! ... Spicy!
Hope you like them Ark! I've looked for a long time for a thin skinned tasty sausage that doesn't cost the earth. Let me know what you think of them x
eleanor the reviews for these sausages is good, only 3 out of 20 said they didn't like them, so will put them on my next Tesco shop.
Yes they have good feedback Barsel. The test of a good thin skinned sausage is if you can prick them easily with a fork, and these you can.
I will do Eleanor, it won't be 'til mid Feb but will let you know.
I do hope that Barry's cooking sensation went well.
Thumbs up & a wink Ark! ;0)

After all that Tesco substituted my order for Jolly Hog pork sausage. Very nice they were, too
Were they? I've seen them at Sainsbury's and wondered what they are like.
Good substitute barry, dearer than the Tesco ones. Outdoor reared and gluten free. Well I have the Tesco ones on my list for tomorrow, so if they don't get substituted, I'll try these next time.
Typical after all that, glad you got some that were good Barry.

The skins were soft, no 'snap', but preferable to tough skins. I could tell they had a high meat content, were tasty without being over peppered or spice. I will buy them again until I can get to my butcher. I will also try the Tesco own that I originally ordered.
I think we're all going to try those now, Barry!
Tesco will be wondering why the sudden rush for sausages. Have they been on master chef or has Nigella been using them? No, just our barry spreading the word!

Ha ha. I might try Jolly Hogg bacon too
